Position Summary
The director will work in collaboration with the second director on site, and the management team
Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
The director is responsible for supervising all staff to ensure compliance with the curriculum, daily duties, etc.
Oversee daily operations, and ensure the child care center consistently meets all licensing and accreditation, health and safety, and company guidelines
Be available to support classrooms as needed (e.g., daily programming/activities, assessment of children’s abilities and progress, documentation of incidents and reports, identify learning challenges/behavioural concerns)
Act as the main point of contact for families, and will be responsible for managing the enrollment of new families, conduct tours, and resolve any concerns families have while their child is enrolled at the center
Act as the main point of contact for vendors, licensing authorities, community connections, management, etc. (and are expected to support positive relationships with all the above)
Responsible for collaborating with management to deliver marketing plans, and to generate new enrollment to meet center capacity
Responsible for the scheduling, training, and retention of staff
Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children
Responsible for monitoring and enforcing monthly budgets, and diligently tracking all income and expenses
Maintain a positive attitude and act as a role model for all staff and children (e.g., model respectful behaviour and language, ethical decision making, enthusiasm and passion for the role you hold at the center, and a playful and caring approach to child care)

Qualifications
Completion of secondary school is required
Experience in child care is required
Alberta Early Childhood Educator Licensing Level 3 is required
Must possess valid CPR and First Aid certification
Criminal record check and child vulnerable sector check must be completed
Must have Food Handling Certificate or be willing to obtain within first month of employment
The applicant must be capable of lifting and/or pushing up to 45 pounds
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE), or 2-year diploma in ECE
3 or more years of experience in an early childhood education setting
1 or more years of experience as a Director of a licensed child care program
Experience supporting families and children with unique needs
Strong understanding of accreditation, licensing standards and subsidy grants
Experience with managing budgets
Knowledge and experience with grant proposal process
Salary
Starting wage will be determined based on a consideration of the following:
